![]() * “The Dreamlife of Angels” - 4 stars: Elodie Bouchez and Natacha Regnier rightfully shared the best actress award at last year’s Cannes Film Festival for their roles in the heartwrenching story of a young free spirit and an antisocial rebel who find solace in each other’s company, at least for a little while. ![]() R (strong sexual dialogue and sexual situations involving teens, language and drug use). As guilty pleasures go, it’s first-rate entertainment. * “Cruel Intentions” - 3 stars: Think “Dangerous Liaisons” meets “Clueless.” Here, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe play step-siblings who involve Reese Witherspoon in their sexual shenanigans. After a handyman (Charles Dutton) is accused of the “murder,” it’s up to sheriffs Chris O’Donnell and Ned Beatty to straighten out the mess. The action centers on a small-town Mississippi octogenarian named Cookie (Patricia Neal in her first movie in 10 years) whose suicide is covered up by her estranged nieces (Julianne Moore, Glenn Close). * “Cookie’s Fortune” - 4 stars: Filmmaker Robert Altman’s first attempt at a Southern Gothic comedy is overflowing with sweetly eccentric characters and shaggy dog twists. Rated R (strong violence, including martial arts combat, some sexual content and language). Fresh from “Lethal Weapon 4” comes martial artist Jet Li as a super-soldier taking on the evil forces that trained him. * “Black Mask” - 3 stars: Jackie Chan, watch out. ![]() * “Baby Geniuses” - 1 star: “Porky’s” helmer Bob Clark delivers an annoying family comedy about the attempt by two nefarious types (Kathleen Turner, Christopher Lloyd) to decipher the baby talk that all infants seem to share. Harold Ramis co-wrote and directs this very funny comedy. * “Analyze This” - 3 stars: Psychologist Billy Crystal takes on his most challenging case: a moody mafia chieftain (Robert De Niro) who has lost his killer instinct. Starring Lloyd Bridges, Robert Hayes, Peter Graves and Julie Hagerty. Make sure you stay in your seat through the final credits. * “Airplane!” - 3 stars: Very funny spoof of “Airport”-type movies with a non-stop series of gags that hold up almost until the end. * “Instinct” - When primatologist Anthony Hopkins is accused of murder after living for years with a family of gorillas, it’s up to Cuba Gooding Jr.
